It can take up to a few weeks to achieve the optimal dose. This is also true for dosing frequency. Fortunately, there has not ever been a case of overdose recorded. However, if more than the prescribed amount has been used or you are concerned, please call 000 and notify your prescribing doctor at the follow up consultation.

An individual’s tolerance and history of natural medicine use can also contribute to the side effects experienced. Severe side effects can include hallucinations, paranoia and psychosis.
If these symptoms occur, please consult your prescribing doctor.

Legal responsibilities

Every individual will process and tolerate natural medicine differently which will affect their ability to operate heavy machinery. Unfortunately, there is not enough data to demonstrate how each individual process natural medicine leading to measurable concentrations in the urine even after days since use. It is recommended that patients do not drive or operate machinery until they know how the medication affects them. Any concerns should be discussed with your treating doctor or our team of professionals who can give you more advice.

Various compounds will show up in work place drug screening on the standard panel As every workplace’s policies and procedures vary, it’s up to the employer to decide whether special consideration will be made.

The laws on legality of natural medicine vary from country to country, one should comply with the local authority on the legality of taking medications overseas. If you would like to bring a product into Australia, an import licence is necessary.

Natural medicines are legal in Australia provided that it’s prescribed from a registered Medical Practitioner. Each state and territory have different laws or legislations; therefore, it is advised to check with your state or territory health organisations.

During your treatment with CannaAid Medical, all patients will be seen at regular intervals until satisfactory response is achieved. The standard consultation layout over a 12-month period is as follows:

  1. Initial doctor consultation
  2. 2-4 week check-up
  3. 2 Month check-up
  4. 4 Month check-up
  5. 6 Month check-up

Changes to the follow up frequency are common, especially if a change in prescription is made, you should be seen by the nurse/doctor 2 to 4 weeks following to assess your treatment response.

Each brand of medication prices its natural medicine differently. Additionally, the dose you are prescribed changes the ongoing costs of your medication. On average monthly medication costs may range from $90 to $500 AUD. The cost of products is not currently subsidised by the Commonwealth Government’s Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, which means that patient will bear the full cost of the treatment. If the cost of the medication is a limitation, please consult with our clinical team to discuss possible options.

The application process to access natural medicine can be time consuming for doctors which in turn incurs a higher fee for the consultation. Private health insurance usually does not cover the cost of consultation unless otherwise specified. Costs of consultations are private (no Medicare Rebate) because for the majority of conditions being prescribed natural medicine, they do not meet the current Medicare eligibility. At CannaAid Medical we wish to make natural medicine affordable and easily accessible for all eligible patients.

After a consultation with our team, your prescription(s) of natural medicine will be either sent to you directly (via SMS or email) or one of our dedicated pharmacies where the medications will be directly delivered to your door.
